Last weekend I visited DirtFish Rally School in Washington. I took a half day course to learn the basics of rally driving and it was everything I dreamed of and more. I'd been wanting to do this since I was 15, and it was definitely worth the wait.
Here's a pic of me and my instructor ripping it around a corner...just thought I'd share a little of the OTHER things I enjoy.
Heh, reminds me of how my grandfather teaches me to drive a car - he lets me drive his VAZ 2106 from one end of еthe village to another and back. Though it's not as epic as driving around a rally course, the village where my grandparents live lacks asphalted roads, so... that's pretty close, I think.
Rally is truly the most pants-shittingest form of motorsport out there.
I'd really love to get into it sometime also. Maybe find a ye olde Galant VR4 for cheap and fix it up into a LOL RALLYCAR. Tons of empty dirt roads around here. Pretty sure nobody would mind me kicking up a small sandstorm. :V
Is your Subaru a standard?
The only time I've gotten to do anything like that was on a small dry lakebed in SoCal...
